A €1.5M Night in Doha: Abdullah Alsharbatly tops the CSI5* Grand Prix
A €1.5 million night in Doha
Emanuele Gaudiano on the second step of the podium in the CSI3*-W World Cup 1.50 m
The spectacular setting of the Longines Arena at Al Shaqab hosted a finale worthy of the grandest occasions, with the CSI5* Grand Prix 1.60 m worth €1,500,000 delivering intense excitement. Writing his name into the roll of honour of the iconic H.H. The Amir’s Sword Grand Prix was Abdullah Alsharbatly (KSA), riding the outstanding Diriyah, star of an explosive and flawless jump-off.
After two rounds in which clear rounds were extremely hard to come by, the tension was palpable. Every mistake was costly, every tenth of a second decisive. In the jump-off, Belgium’s Pieter Devos set the first benchmark, immediately bettered by Saudi rider Khaled Almobty. But it was the last to go, Alsharbatly, who showed nerves of steel, precision and determination: tight lines, surgical distances and a relentless pace that stopped the clock at an extraordinary 36.29 seconds, securing the win.
Behind him, Khaled Almobty with Diana du Plevau Z claimed a well-deserved second place thanks to a courageous performance, while Pieter Devos and Casual DV Z completed a podium that showcased the sport at its very highest level.
The atmosphere at Al Shaqab was electric from start to finish. The crowd followed every round with a rising wave of enthusiasm, erupting at each decisive fence and turning the Grand Prix into an unforgettable spectacle.
Great sport was also on display in the CSI3*-W World Cup 1.50 m (LR), the World Cup qualifying class won by Abdulrahman Alrajhi (KSA) aboard Lorenzo ES, after a precise and fast round that earned him victory. Right behind him finished Italy’s Emanuele Gaudiano, second with Nikolaj de Music, once again confirming his competitiveness on the international stage. Third place went to Belgium’s Pieter Devos with Jarina J, completing a top-class podium.
