2018 has not started well for Belgian rider Gregory Wathelet as he has had to say farewell to the companion of many victories; Forlap DC.
The Belgian Gelding was put down after the veterinary team tried everything to help him recover from a fracture he suffered last month
The gelding suffered a leg fracture last month and the veterinary team looking after him did everything they could to a least allow Forlap DC to retire; unfortunately in the end the treatment was unsuccessful and, following agreement from the owner and jockey, the vets decided to end the animals suffering.
Having started competing at the age of seven, when under the guidance of Wathelet, Forlap won the national championship for his age group. Last season the duo reached the final of the World Cup in Omaha, finishing 11th.
