Aachen gives Corradina a fond farewell

It was a fond farewell for the incredible Holsteiner Corradina (Corrado I) at Aachen, the show jumping horse that took rider Carsten Otto Nagel to so much success. Together they won two silver medals at the European championships of Windsor in 2009, an individual silver at the European Championships of 2011 and also a silver at the most recent European Championships in Herning in the team event. For years they were the leading formation for the Germany team.
The decision to retire the 16 year old Corradina from competition was taken after physical problems kept her out of action this season and so Carsten Otto Nagel decided to call it a day for good.
Yesterday the horse received an emotional sen-off from the crowd and especially from her rider who was in tears at the end of the ceremony. A huge applause accompanied Corradina away from the arena and the horse will now be used for breeding purposes considering her huge genetic potential.
