Behind the scene of the Dutch Master with Sean Lynch, groom to Daniel Desseur
Daniel Deusser will join Lorenzo De Luca in today’s competition at Rolex Grand Prix s’-Hertongebosch atop of Cornet d’Amour: a really special horse, very sensitive and with a great character, as revealed by Sean Lynch, groom to the German rider.
Lynch explained the routine immediately after a big competition and said that the horses undergo a SPA treatment. They start with a shower and some hay, so they can relax and cool down. Then they are put ice boots and spa boots on. As soon as they are dry, they are covered with a massage blanket for 45 minutes and this is useful as back treatment relief, if they have jumped a big class. Lynch admitted that Cornet gets more spa treatments than any of us do.
The result in the Dutch Master is important for Daniel Deusser’s seasonal scheduling. Lynch said that if it goes well on Sunday, then they can really start to focus on the Rolex Grand Slam and plan the schedule around the next Majors.
Even though Daniel is usually very relaxed, the atmophere around this competition is really excited and pressure is also felt by the grooms of top pairs, as Lynch explained.
