Belgian blitzes the first day of Jumping Verona

The first day of the Jumping Verona CSI5* was dominated by Belgian rider Niels Bruynseels who claimed the Prestige Prize following an enthusiasmatic barrage.
The 1.55m category was balanced and hard fought right till the very end. Uliano Vezzani set up the track, and made it especially trying as only 11 of the 42 competitors managed to complete it without faults; thereby earning a spot in the barrage.
Swedish rider Douglas Lindelow, on Zacramento, dazzled the crowd setting a time of 35.55 seconds. For most of the competition it seemed no one could match the achievement. That was until Niels Bruynseels, on Gancia de Muze, surpassed the Swede with a brilliant showing of speed, beating out the previous leader by over two seconds.
Spanish rider Sergio Alvarez, on G&C Arrayan, finished third with an impressive performance, but not impressive enough to take dethrone Bruynseels.
Just two Italian made it to the barrage: eighth placed Emilio Bicocchi, on Sassicaia Ares, and tenth placed Piergiorgio Bucci, on Driandria.
