Carlos Bosch Cebrián — A New Chapter with Kar Sport Horses and His Star Mare Jolie van der Berghoeve

This season has been a breakthrough year for Spanish show jumper Carlos Bosch Cebrián, one of the promising riders climbing the international ranks. In October, he jumped his first ever 5* Grand Prix at the CSIO Barcelona, finishing with just a pity rail, and shortly after, he made his Nations Cup debut for Spain at the Sunshine Tour — an important milestone for the rider who continues to show consistency at high level.

Now Bosch begins a new adventure, joining Kar Sporthorses for the winter tour in the UAE, where he will compete on the Abu Dhabi circuit. At the center of this new chapter stands his talented mare, Jolie van der Berghoeve.

“The collaboration came through Jolie”

The partnership with Kar Sport Horses was born thanks to his top mare Joli. Bosch explains how the collaboration happened naturally:

“The collaboration came because of Jolie. They were looking for a good horse, came to my place to see her, they liked her, and we ended up agreeing that they would buy her and I could continue competing with her, which was something that interested me much more than just selling her.”

For Carlos, it turned into something bigger than expected:

“It took a little time, but in the end it has been for the best. Not only because of Jolie, but because it also helps me a lot with the other horses.”

A Mare Raised From Scratch

Bosch’s connection with Jolie is special. He has trained her himself from the very beginning:

“Joli is a mare that arrived at our place when she was three years old, she wasn’t even broken in. She came almost by chance, and I ended up being lucky.”

Together, they have climbed every category step by step:

“I have been through all her stages: from breaking her in, to the first shows, young horse classes at 5, 6, 7, 8 years old, and now this year she has brought us into high-level sport.”

Joli has always answered every challenge:

“She has always been competitive and has always had good results at every stage and at every age.”

Ready for the Big Stage

This was their first year facing big competitions, and Bosch could not feel more confident:

“It was the first year we faced big shows with her. At nine years old, even though she’s still young, she was very ready for what was coming and I was very confident because she is a mare I know perfectly.”

Their progress has given him peace of mind:

“Every test I have done with her has been very satisfactory. She has helped me take a big step forward, but with the calmness of riding a mare I know so well.”

A New Adventure in the UAE

The move to the Middle East opens a whole new world for the Spanish rider:

“It’s a completely unknown world for me. I have never been there, I have never even seen a show there, but I am very supported by the whole Kar Sport Horses team.”

The plan is ambitious, but clear:

“We will compete in two five-star shows there, and what we would like is to perform just as well as in Barcelona and to consolidate ourselves at that level.”

Bosch ends with excitement for what is coming:

“I am very happy with how everything is evolving and very excited about the upcoming projects together with Kar Sporthorses.”
