Casadei double at Memorial Dalla Chiesa
The 26th edition of the Memorial Dalla Chiesa, the event that pays tribute to General Carlo Alberto Dalla Chiesa, came to a close yesterday, with the military band playing the Italian national anthem. The event saw a number of riders in action and what’s more, part of the funds raised will go towards a very worthy cause – the fight against chronic illnesses in children.
The day started with the Gese prize, a consolatory one for those riders who had not managed to qualify for the Small Tour final, and it went to Giulio Fiammeri atop of Lapo de S’Arcaite.
The winners of the Master di Italia Indoor – Small Tour 2017 (prize Grafiche Zanini) were Veronica Bartolucci and S.N. Conalta (0/0; 32,27). Behind them, Letizia Tono on Alex Mr. Blue (0/0;32,97) clinched the silver, while Luna Ludovica Moggi riding Devlin K the bronze medal (0/0;33,1).
The climax of the day was the Grand Prix QN – il Resto del Carlino, which crowned the winner of the whole kermesse among 53 pairs at the start line.
For the second year in a row, Giacomo Casadei claimed the victory with his grey stallin My Forever owned by Lalla Novo (0/0;33,02). The 15-year-old talent, golden medal at the European Championships for Young riders, was one of the youngest competitors and left behind Laura Lorenzetti, second place atop of Caitol Wies (0/0/0; 33,29) and police officer Federico Ciriesi on Cassandra (0/0; 33,47), who ended third.
‘It was a great success, I didn’t expect to win again this year’, Casadei said in his interview with event speaker Carlo Rotunno. ‘My horse was super and got it. I want to thank my parents and all those who have supported me.’
The Bologna-born rider also clinched the Gese Memorial Dalla Chiesa Cup, handed by admiral Giorgio Lazio, on behalf of the Chief of Defence Staff and the Chief of Staff of the Navy, along with General Antonio Conserva, representing the Chief of Air Force.
Casadei was then rewarded with the Crystal Cup of QN – il Resto del Carlino, who sponsored the whole GP.
As always the curtain came down on the big event with a closing ceremony which included a moving rendition of the Italian national anthem.
