Cherie Maquignaz: A Young Rider with Big Dreams
At FieraCavalli Verona, amidst the rhythm of hooves and the energy of major competitions, we meet Cherie Maquignaz, one of the most promising young riders in Italian show jumping. Her smile is bright and genuine, but behind it lies a path built on dedication, passion, and impressive growth.
From casual rides to the first podiums
“I started almost five years ago,” Cherie explains. “It all began very simply: I used to go for rides in Valle d’Aosta, then I watched other kids trying little jumps and I wanted to try too.”
Her first partner in crime was William, the pony with whom she completed her first 60 cm classes. That’s where everything truly began to take shape.
FieraCavalli, a tradition that keeps growing
For Cherie, Verona is not just another competition—it’s a special place with deep meaning.
“I’ve been competing at FieraCavalli for four years in a row, always in the World Cup arena,” she says. “The first two years with Viti, and the last two with Charly… or rather Carlchen 88, although everyone calls him Charly.”
FieraCavalli represents a benchmark in her season: an arena that challenges, inspires, and excites.
“The ring is demanding, but the emotions it gives you are incredible. It’s special for riders and spectators alike.”

Growing under the guidance of Riccardo Pisani
Alongside her is Riccardo Pisani, one of Italy’s top show jumping riders.
“Riccardo brings an incredible sense of calm,” Cherie says. “He’s so precise with every detail, whether it’s an exercise or the course walk. That precision helps me a lot. And he always gives me the time I need to grow. That means everything.”
Horses that leave a mark
Every rider has horses that define certain chapters of their life.
“Viti was the horse of my life,” Cherie shares. “We won the 2023 Italian Championships together—she gave me so much.”
But today, another star shines just as brightly:
“Carlchen 88, my Charly, is incredibly sweet and always gives his all in the arena. We’ve built such a strong bond. He’s definitely my horse of the heart right now.”
Looking ahead
When asked about the future, Cherie’s eyes light up.
“In five years, I hope to still be here—but hopefully on an even bigger stage. My dream is to compete one day in the actual World Cup class.”
A bold goal, but entirely believable for someone who has already shown such determination and growth.
Safety and style with KEP Italia
In a sport like show jumping, safety is everything. Cherie has relied on KEP Italia since the very beginning.
“I’ve always used KEP. They’ve protected me through everything, even a few falls that weren’t exactly soft. For me they’re a guarantee. And the design is beautiful, too.”
Her personalized e-light helmet is a true standout piece.
“It really represents me: the carbon gives that sporty look, while the crystals on the front and back add elegance. It’s my absolute favorite.”

With her passion, humility, and increasingly refined talent, Cherie Maquignaz continues her rise. Watching her ride, it’s easy to imagine that the World Cup dream she talks about may one day become her reality.
