
CHIO Aachen 2014 – Saturday’s results: victory for Gaudiano ahead of today’s Rolex Grand Prix

Let’s take a look now at Saturday’s results from Aachen.
Kenny Darragh rode to victory in the Sparkassen Youngster Cup on the KWPN bay stallion Chin Quidam VDL (Chin Chin), owned by Lic Hyperion Stud.
Eric Lamaze was his toughest challenger, who after being disqualified in the first round in which he recorded the fastest time, bounced back in the second round with a super performance to finish in second place on Check Picobello Z. (son of Cardento and jointly owned by Torrey Pine Stables and Artisan Farm)
An in form Penelope Leprevost took the final podium slot on her jumper Sultane des Ibis; a 2006 Selle Française sorrel and Quidam de Revel’s daughter. The rest of the top-ten was made up as indicated below:

Italian rider Emanuele Gaudiano performed admirably and finished in 15th place on Corbanus (Corrado I).
Let’s focus now on Saturday’s main event, the Prize Aachener Munchener from 1.50m with jump-off which was won by the young Dutchman Frank Schuttert. The victory with BWP Epleaser van’t Heike (For Pleasure) also earns the Dutch rider a cool 18750 euros.Schuttert recorded a faster time than Belgian rider Pieter Devos on AES Dylano (Cento Lano) who came second. There was then another Dutch rider on the podium in the form of Maikel van der Vleuten on VDL Groep Verdi Tn in third. The rest of the top-ten was made up as follows:

On Saturday evening the Prize of Sparkasse from 1.40m took place with the novelty of natural obstacles for the course. Olivier Philippaerts with Carlito C came out on top in this timed trial ahead of Hans-Dieter Dreher on Quiwi Dream in second and Ireland’s Shane Breen with Ominerale Courcelle in third.The full standings: http://www.chioaachen.de/en/starterlisten?iEventId=962&sListLabel=Results%20S14
The day’s events came to a close with the RWE Prize with obstacles of varying difficulty and reaching heights of up to 1.50m. It was an accumulator trial with joker and there was good Equestrian World for Italy as Emanuele Gaudiano took the win thanks to his 65 points and time of 53.48 with his mount Caesario (Cornet Obolensky). The Italian finished in front of Germany’s Tim Hoster on Quality, who obtained the same number of points but in a slower time of 56.12.Cameron Hanley took the final podium slot of the trial after collecting the same amount of points but in a time of 57.15.

The riders are back out competing today from 10.45 in the SAP Prize from 1.45m. This will merely serve as an appetizer for today’s highly anticipated main event which is sold out, the Rolex Grand Prix!
