The Aachen CHIO 2014 has come to an end after the home favourite Christian Ahlmann won the Rolex Grand Prix on home soil. The German rider was the only one to score clean runs in all rounds on 12 year old Hannover Codex One (Contendro) to take the win.
The triumph also means a hefty sum of 330 000 euros in prize money for Ahlmann who finished ahead of Kent Farrington in second. The latter though is in fine form and maintained his impressive run of results at the latest event on his mount KWPN Voyeur (Tolano van’T Riethof). The US rider picked up 4 penalties in the jump-off which cost him a chance at winning the GP, although he may well be comforted by the 200 000 euros in prize money.
The final podium slot was taken by another German rider in the form of Marcus Ehning with KWPN Plot Blue (Mr.Blue). The German rider wasn’t as quick as Farrington who completed the course with a time of 43.91 compared to Ehning’s 46.01. The rest of the top-ten was made up as follows:
4th Daniel Deusser GER Cornet d’Amour
5th Lauren Hough USA Ohlala
6th Lucy Davis USA Barron
7th Henrik von Eckermann SWE Gotha
8th Ludger Beerbaum GER Chiara 222
9th Jeroen Dubbeldam NED Zenith sfn
10th Luciana Diniz POR Fit For Fun
