CSI Ascona: Lea Hüsler Lights Up the Opening Day

Ascona, September 12, 2025 – The 32nd edition of CSI Ascona opened with great sport and an undisputed star: Lea Hüsler. The Swiss rider didn’t just win—she delivered a remarkable double in the 2-star circuit, taking first place in both competitions of the opening day.
Her first victory came aboard Gatchina de la Cense, finishing ahead of Philippa Bisang on Ultimus and Andreas Ott with H-Donnerwolke, securing an all-Swiss podium. Just a few hours later, Hüsler struck again, this time riding Muzette, narrowly beating Roger Umnus (Clear Love Z) by a single second. The third spot went to France’s Guy Jonqueres D’Oriola with Django des Baleines.
Amateurs Kick Off the Event
The official start of the show was given by the Amateurs, with two dedicated classes. The first, a two-phase competition at 115 cm, saw an all-female Swiss podium: Cherine Bourquard (Asmara), already a winner in Ascona two years ago, took the victory ahead of Alicia Lang (Jarizona van de Muggenhoek) and Yasmin Wüest (Campino 576).
In the second class, victory went to Italy’s Ginevra Saluzzo Madafferri riding Darci du Sacradel, followed by fellow Italian Giorgia Scolaro (He Men) and Brazil’s Gilberto Sayao Da Silva (Chacco me Boilley).
First Challenge for the Under 25
The U25 category was won by Switzerland’s Lou Puch aboard Vitalhorse Un Amour la Goula. Completing the podium were Joana Schildknecht (Napoleon C), also from Switzerland, and USA’s Tali Dejong (Vaillant de Belle Vue).
Today’s Program
Friday’s second day of competition will begin at 8:30 a.m. with an Amateur class, followed by another in the same category and one reserved for the Under 25. In the afternoon, the spotlight will turn to the headliners of the show with two eagerly awaited 4-star classes, followed by two more in the 2-star circuit.
