Super, Laura Renwick won the GLOCK’s 5* Grand Prix
As three-times GLOCK’s Grand Prix winner and number three in the world, Martin Fuchs was of course in the shortlist of favourites for the GLOCK’s 5* Grand Prix with 344,000 euros of prize money for Horses and Stars at the GLOCK HORSE PERFORMANCE CENTER. In his preceding interview, the Swiss rider analysed the key aspects of the course over 1.60 m, in which the riders could also achieve the FEI qualification criteria for the 2019 European Championships in Rotterdam and the 2020 Olympic Games in Tokyo. For this they had to complete the basic round of this selective jumping competition at the GHPC Austria with a maximum of eight penalty points.
“Today there could easily be errors at both the triple combination oxer-oxer-upright and combination 12a,b consisting of two tricky uprights, because the riders have to go for speed if they’re to keep within the allowed time. Staying focussed from the first till the last jump and taking every last detail into account, these are decisive at this level,” commented the 2018 World Equestrian Games silver medallist.
Among the seven who had remained penalty-free from the basic round and last to start in the jump-off, characterised by extended canters and tight turns, it was the number 63 in the world of show jumping, Laura Renwick (GBR), who took her second victory of the day following first place in the Youngster final. In the saddle on Dublin V, she emerged victorious in the GLOCK’s 5* Grand Prix (0/44.82). Awaiting the beaming British rider, alongside the elegant winner’s blanket and specially produced GLOCK trophy, was a prize of 86,000 euros as well as valuable World Ranking points in the highest AA category. “This is my third year here as a guest and it has always been a dream of mine to win the Grand Prix. The fact that it really has happened here at the unique GLOCK HORSE PERFORMANCE CENTER in Treffen is unbelievable and absolutely wonderful!”
Occupying second place was the son of show jumping legend John Whitaker, the six-times Young Rider European Champion Robert Whitaker. With his experienced Holsteiner Catwalk IV, he completed the jump-off penalty-free in 46.14 seconds.
Today the winner of the GLOCK’s 5* Grand Prix in February 2019, Christian Ahlmann (GER), took third place. Currently number 13 in the world and riding Take A Chance On Me Z, he also remained penalty-free in the jump-off and took third place for Germany in 46.55 seconds. Martin Fuchs (SUI) with The Sinner was also penalty-free, but his time of 47.02 was only sufficient for fourth place.

CSI5* GLOCK’s Perfection Tour 1.50 m
Martin Fuchs opens the final day at GHPC Austria with victory
The final day of Horses & Stars at the GLOCK HORSE PERFORMANCE CENTER Austria opened with an international five-star jumping competition against the clock over a maximum height of 1.50 m. The CSI5* test carried prize money totalling 25,000 euros, qualifying it to count towards the Longines World Ranking.
Fastest of the eight penalty-free duos among the field of 30 starters was ultimately the three-times GLOCK’s Grand Prix winner Martin Fuchs and ten-year-old Silver Shine, son of Califax. The 2018 World Equestrian Games silver medallist is currently number three in the Longines World Rankings. He is without doubt one of the most successful regular guests of the GLOCK HORSE PERFORMANCE CENTER Austria and we will see the Swiss rider again this afternoon, this time in the saddle on The Sinner, in the GLOCK’s 5* Grand Prix with a total prize purse of 344,000 euros. “I was already second with him on Friday, so hopefully we’re well prepared and we’ll do our best to be able to meet up again here for the award ceremony at 5pm,” Martin Fuchs assured us.
Second place in this World Ranking test over 1.50 m was also reserved for a Swiss duo, given that Alain Jufer and his experienced Holsteiner Casall crossed the line penalty-free in 63.10 seconds. Occupying third place was Belgium’s Gregory Wathelet, winner of the CSI5* GLOCK’s Perfection Tour and the GLOCK’s Youngster Tour on Saturday. He piloted his eleven-year-old Belgian mare Iphigeneia de Muze over the 12 obstacles in 63.73 seconds with no penalties.
For the first award ceremony on the final day at the GLOCK HORSE PERFORMANCE CENTER Austria, eleven-year-old GLOCK’s Dobelensky, son of Cornet Obolensky, and GLOCK Rider Gerco Schröder (NED) stood in sixth place (0/68.51).

CSI2* GLOCK’s 2* GRAND PRIX 1.45 m
Dominik Fuhrer wins the GLOCK’s 2* Grand Prix
A prize purse of 26,000 euros, 13 obstacles, 16 jumps, 500 m course length, allowed time of 80 seconds and maximum height of 1.45 m. These were the key parameters of the GLOCK’s 2* Grand Prix on the final day of Horses & Stars at the GLOCK HORSE PERFORMANCE CENTER Austria. Thanks to penalty-free basic rounds, 6 of the 30 participating duos made it to the jump-off, which followed a shortened course.
Germany, the Netherlands, USA, Switzerland and Austria were represented in the decider and it was to be Dominik Fuhrer (SUI), in the saddle on nine-year-old Holsteiner Call Me Carly, who ultimately cantered in to win first place. Together their two magnificent clear rounds and jump-off time of 41.10 seconds prompted a second playing of the Swiss national anthem on this final day at GHPC Austria, given that Fuhrer’s trainer Martin Fuchs had taken victory in the preceding CSI5* competition.
“Dominik rode superbly all weekend and I offer him my heartfelt congratulations on his first 2-star Grand Prix victory,” were Martin Fuchs’s words of praise for his student, whom he had accompanied to the award ceremony. “This is the best tournament I’ve ever had the chance to ride in and I’m really enjoying it. Today is definitely the best victory to date,” said a beaming Fuhrer, a mathematics teacher by profession, in the winner’s interview.
Taking second place were Joy Lammers (NED) and her nine-year-old KWPN gelding First Boy B.B., who were also among the four achieving “double-zero” and had only taken 10 hundredths of a second longer than the winners. Con Spirit, a 13-year-old stallion bred from Cornet Obolensky, jumped beneath Daniel Dassler (GER) to third place.
Making it into the jump-off for Austria were Monika Madl (OÖ) and Atreju 97. Ultimately the duo took an outstanding sixth place. Bianca Babanitz (B) and nine-year-old stallion Game Dk Z achieved seventh place with one time penalty point from the basic round.

CSIYH1* – YOUNG HORSES
CSYH1* GLOCK’s Youngster Tour 1.40/1.45 m
GLOCK’s Youngster Tour Final winners: Carleyle and Laura Renwick
Twenty-two highly talented seven and eight-year-old show jumping horses drawn from the very best stock demonstrated their qualities round the course in the GLOCK’s Youngster Tour Final on Sunday (16/06).
The basic round led over 13 obstacles with heights of up to 1.40 or 1.45 metres respectively, according to the youngster horses’ age, where they had to deal with a challenging task under their experienced riders. According to the rules, the 12 best duos could qualify for the deciding second round, taking their penalty points with them and starting in reverse order.
Proving to be the best youngster in this GLOCK’s Youngster Tour Final at the GHPC Austria 2019 was seven-year-old  Maverick. This son of Diamant de Semilly x Heartbreaker took ultimate victory under third-placed rider in the CSIO5* Grand Prix in St. Gallen 2019, Laura Renwick (GBR), in 44.37 seconds. “Maverick is a really very promising horse. He obviously feels very happy here and has developed well over the weekend, because he jumped even better today than on the first day,” said Laura Renwick in the interview.

Just 61 hundredths of a second denied the eight-year-old Holsteiner Carleyle victory. Current number 22 in the Longines World Rankings, Gregory Wathelet (BEL), piloted the stallion into second place with no penalties in 44.98 seconds. Occupying third place were Zampano Z and his breeder and rider Christian Ahlmann, winner of the GLOCK’s 5* Grand Prix in February 2019, an altogether promising duo. The eight-year-old son of Zandor Z performed magnificently, jumping with great power and delivering one of the total of seven double clear rounds (0/45.62) in this competition final.
