Sport, entertainment, music and a lot of surprises
Barcelona, October 16th 2018.- During three intense days, the Real Club de Polo de Barcelona was setting of the best international equestrian competition. The 107 th edition of CSIO Barcelona, Spain’s oldest international sport event, end up last Sunday after a week full of emotions and entertainment.
From October 5 th to 7 th , the 35.000 CSIO Barcelona visitors enjoyed the best of gastronomy, lifestyle, concerts… And above all, a lot of sport. A treat for all the senses. But the event best appeal was without any doubt the participation in the competition of 6 riders from the world’s top 10.
Besides of the first level Equestrian competition, the assistants who visited the RCPB’s facilities could enjoy the 20. 000m2 of the new PoloPark, the shows from the Santi Serra, horse whisperer, and the big final concert of Bob Sinclar.
The best of equestrians met in Barcelona
Fort the sixth year in a row the RCPB welcomed the most important equestrian team competition of the world: the Longines FEI Jumping Nations Cup TM Final. After the qualificative round, 8 nations were in competition for the leadership. At the end it was Belgium which, after a thrilling final, seized the trophy whereas Germany could not let the Longines Challenge Cup- the consolation competition- go.
The great winner of the individual competition was the American rider Jessica Springsteen, daughter of “The Boss”, who won the Queen’s Cup-Segura Viudas Trophy. Not a doubt: success is flowing through her veins.

Longines FEI Jumping Nations Cup Final: Belgium (Niels Bruynseels, Pieter Devos, Jos Verlooy and Nicola Philippaerts).
16 nations, 83 riders, and 134 horses were the main characters of the 6 competitions. Between team and individual competitions, the visitors could enjoy a total of 5.000 jumps.
PoloPark’s big surprises
The festival of creative experiences, new trends, gastronomy and entertainment opened its doors with even more activities. The 20.000m2 of the Polo field which were transformed in a big family area full of leisure and dynamic activities for all ages also presented shows by the famous horse whisperer Santi Serra, a demonstration by Barcelona Mounted Police on the Saturday, and agility shows by True Instincts; etc. Besides, the PoloPark counted with a large schedule of concerts with new nationals and internationals musical talents of different styles.
The RCPB’ gala and its people
Once again the CSIO Barcelona was the rendezvous point for familiar faces of the Spanish society whom did not want to miss the equestrian competitions. Personality such as Paloma Lago, a RCPB regular, Rafa Medina came accompanied by Laura Vecina or Marta Ortega with her boyfriend, they all enjoyed the magnificent facilities without missing any detail from the competition of the Olympic arena.
CSIO Barcelona also attracted interest in social medias with the presence in the Real Club de Polo de Barcelona of two famous influencers Eli Simó and Mon Rovi, both accompanied by their respective partners.
Bob Sinclar: the cherry on the cake
The famous French DJ and music producer Bob Sinclar was in charge of closing the CSIO Barcelona with style. He offered an exclusive concert in the RCPB’s Olympic arena, where he animated the public to dance and sing at the rhythm of its biggest successes.
Some curious datas
Almost 300 people made possible the celebration of this big event and as many journalists counted to international medias the developement of these three days. 4.500 menus were served, 10.500 water bottle were drunk, and another 10.500 soft drinks were consumed. Some curious datas that show, without any doubts, it was Barcelona’s sport and social event of the year.
