Daniel Coyle (IRL) Jumps to Victory in the ATB Cup at Spruce Meadows CSI5*

Irish excellence shines on the final day of the ‘National’, presented by Rolex
Spruce Meadows, Calgary (Canada), June 16, 2025 – Sunshine and smiles marked the end of the CSI5* ‘National’ tournament, presented by Rolex, as Daniel Coyle (IRL) and his 15-year-old gelding Farrel claimed a brilliant win in the prestigious ATB Cup on the International Ring.
Renowned FEI Course Designer Olaf Petersen Jr. (GER) laid out a challenging track that tested even the best. Only five riders managed clear rounds in the first phase, qualifying for a high-stakes jump-off. In the end, Coyle and Farrel stood alone as the only double clear, crossing the finish in 43.89 seconds.
“I’ve ridden every kind of horse in every kind of ring – from five to fifteen, sixteen years old. It has really improved me as a rider. The time allowed is different here, the speed is different, the jumps are different. You have to adapt. When I think back to my first year at Spruce Meadows, I made mistakes that I’ll never forget. But I’ve learned a lot – and I’m not finished yet.”
Irish power, global podium
Irish riders have been a dominant force this season, and Daniel Coyle’s latest victory closes two action-packed weeks of top-level show jumping on a high note. Rounding out the podium were Kara Chad (CAN) aboard Igor GPH, and Eugenio Garza Perez (MEX) with Chalouries PS.
