The DKB Rider of the Year is about to start again, since 2001 the tournament is among the most coveted nationwide in Germany. The Tour of the Cavaliers will open the 2018 season with the first stage in Hagen (from 25 to 29 April), continuing in May (9-13) in Hamburg, Wiesbaden (18-21 May), August in Munster (23-26), Paderborn in September (6-9) and Munich (indoor from 22 to 25 November).
In its first year the DKB Riders Tour was considered the highest national tournament in Germany, with a total prize money of 200 thousand euros. It is also open to non-German riders who are resident in Germany, as in the case of the Portuguese Amazon Luciana Diniz who won the Tour in 2012.
The participating riders have the opportunity to accumulate points in the six stages available, the best four results are added up and will decide the winner after the Munich indoor final.
Dominating the list of winners of this tournament is the Beerbaum family: with 5 titles for Ludger, followed by the 3 victories of Meredith Michaels-Beerbaum and finally a victory for Markus Beerbaum.
