Endurance Abruzzo: Alfonso Marcucci is regional champion

Yari Perrotti, riding Al Taer, has won the 80km event whilst Alfonso Marcucci, on El Smile Sabak, has taken the title of Regional Champion of Endurance at the San Giovanni Teatino.The races took place in the equestrian centre of the Valle del Lupo at San Giovanni Teatino and was the 2009 edition of the Abruzzo Regional Championships sponsored by Exclusive Saddlery.The weather did not help the organisers as heavy rain fell over night making the ground between the vineyards and trees very heavy. In the end a new route was established right at the last moment. The event ran smoothly after that, the sun even came out during the day, and the highly anticipated CEN**/B race, that over 81km, finished with a real flourish.With an average speed of 14km/h, Yari Pernotti beat the likes of Rina Zagara on Shakera Del Vomano while further back in third and fourth place respectively were Federico Di Matteo on Isidoro and Alfonso Marcucci on El Smile Sabak.The latter took the overall title of Regional Champio with a score of 259 points ahead of Mirko Mazzocchetti (208 points).Pernotti horse was also credited with having the ‘best condition’. The other races in action were the CEN*/R over 54 km and the Beginners over 27 km that were won by Lucio di Giovanni on Dolby Surround and Fabrizio Poliziani on Hawahmar respectively.
