Europe’s long list for the New York Riders Masters Cup

With Robert Ridland having already revealed the American team for the upcoming Riders Masters Cup, the head of the European team; Philippe Guerdat; has released his long list for the team which will face off against the American selection during the next stage of the Longines Masters on April 28.
Guerdat, who led the French team to Gold at the Rio 2016 Olympic games, has named three of the top five riders in the rankings, a European champion, the winner of the Hong Kong stage and, obviously, some of the riders from his triumphant team in Rio.
We’ll start with the top rankers, led by Dutchman Harrie Smolders (2nd on the computer list), followed Frenchman Kevin Staut (4th and member of Guerdat’s Olympic team in Rio) and 5th placed Peder Fredricson (also individual European Champion).
Also on the list are Philippe Rozier (another member of the Olympic team), Patrice Deleveau (winner in Hong Kong), Belgians Gregory Wathelet (17th in the rankings), Jerome Guery and Olivier Philippaerts; the latter representing the under-25 category alongside French rising star Edward Levy.
A strong group for Europe, with their sights set on New York. The final selection will be announced a few days before the competition.
