The Netherlands is eagerly awaiting the imminent debut of the ‘s-Hertongebsch CSI5*, the fourth stage of the Rolex Grand Slam, with 8 of the top ten riders taking part in the Dutch Masters and each one with the Rolex Grand Prix in their sights.
This year there’s even more at stake as the winner of each of the four stages will earn 1 million dollars in prize money, with an extra million up for grabs for any rider who goes on to win a fourth Major in succession; with the next venues on the list Aachen, Spruce Meadows and finally the CHI in Geneva.
Previously known as the Brabant Indoor, the competition was founded 50 years ago and has always been one of the main events on the FEI calendar. With its inclusion in the Rolex Grand Prix circuit, the competition has gained ulterior prestige and is now one of the elite.
Unfortunately, due to a leg injury the current ranking leader Kent Farrington, who triumphed in Geneva back in December, will not be taking part.
The favourites are recently elected Dutch Rider of the Year 2017 Harrie Smolders and Maikel van der Vleuten who will be representing the Dutch team along with Leopold van Asten.
Other big names at the event will be Scott Brash, Kevin Staut, Eric Lamaze from Canada, Steve Guerdat, as well reigning European Champion Peder Fredricson and his fellow Swede Henrik von Eckermann, as well as Italian rider Lorenzo De Luca.
