FEI Rankings: No changes in jumping and eventing but Cathrine Dufour making waves in dressage

While the recently updated global rankings for jumping and eventing have stayed mostly the same. In fact, German star Michael Jung leading on 463 points, ahead of second-placed Tim Price and Gemma Tattersalls, who are tied on 450 points.
On the other hand, American Kent Farrington continues to lead in jumping, despite the injury he picked up last month, with 3173 points, with Dutch rider Harrie Smolders on 3058 and fellow American McLain Ward on 2953.
The big Equestrian World is in the dressage category where Catherine Dufour, a young Danish rider who came to the limelight when he won the bronze medal at last year’s European Championships in Gothenburg, is currently third on 2583 points. The Dane recently won the FEI World Cup stage in Gothenburg, riding Atterupgaards Cassidy.
Dufour has overtaken illustrious rivals like Patrik Kittel (currently occupying the ninth place with Deja on 2246 points and tenth with Delaunay OLD on 2214 points), German riders Helen Langehanenberg (8th with Damsey FRH on 2304 points) and Dorothee Schneider (9th with Sammy Davis Jr on 2330 points). Ranking leader Isabell Werth, currently on 2984 with Weihegold OLD, had also been third on Emilio 107 but has lost that placement dropping to fifth on 2575 points.
Dufour finds herself once again behind Sonke Rothenberger, second in the rankings and silver-medalist in the 2017 European Championships. However, the rivalry will have to wait as Dufour has not qualified for the World Cup, but the young Dane will have her shot at the top at the World Equestrian Games 2018.
