
Fei World Cup finals 2018 list for Paris announced

The final list of finalists for the 2018 World Cup title has finally been unveiled by the International Equestrian Federation, with the exception of Africa all the continents are represented with 38 riders who will take part for the 2018 showjumping title, now in the hands of the American McLain Ward.
The eternal challenge between Europe and the USA is rekindled, these continents that over the years have gathered more successes in the prestigious intercontinental tournament: the hunt for the title will open on April 11 at the Accorhotel Arena in Paris where the FEI World Cup final is back after a 25-year absence, among the favorites are home riders Kevin Staut, Roger Yves-Bost and Simon Delestre together with the Swedish rider Henrik von Eckermann; the Scandinavian last year ended the final one step away from the winner and closed the group qualification leading the European division.
Another rider to watch out for is Marcus Ehning, who with four victories in his career is one of the stars who has won the most in this event.
In addition to Ehning particular attention will also fall on his fellow countryman Daniel Deusser, headliner in 2014 in Lyon and flying Dutchman Harrie Smolders, undisputed protagonist in the major international events of 2017 who will be riding Zilnius.
The official list of the nine finalists in dressage has also been published. In the throne is Isabell Werth who in Paris will present her top horse Emilio and there will be stiff competition from the Dutch champion Edward Gal who after reaching the peaks with the extraordinary Totilas in Paris will face the delicate test together with Glock’s Zonik, a 10-year-old Danish stallion from Blue Hors Zack developing under the Dutch rider until it entered the orbit of the Dutch NOP foundation that identifies and protects potential Olympic contenders for the Dutch team.
Edward Gal will not be the only one out to dethrone Werth, there is also the Swede Patrik Kittel riding Deja, nicknamed “The Queen D“ who Kittel participated in the Rio Games in 2016 with and won a stage of the Nations Cup last year in July at the CDIO5* in Falsterbo.
