Find who is on the British team for Hickstead / WIN a trip to Dublin

British team revealed in Dublin.

If you’re a showjumping fan, this must be the best few weeks of the year – the European Championships are currently taking place in Spain, and a few days after the final medals are handed out we’ll be straight into the Agria Royal International Horse Show! We’re also excited to reveal the British team for Friday’s Agria Nations Cup of Great Britain, with two members of the European squad among them – scroll down to find out which ones.

Hickstead is best shown for being the home of British showjumping, but the Royal International is a veritable feast of equestrian action and there’s so much going on at the show. Some of the other highlights include numerous championship showing classes, culminating in Sunday’s Barberstown Castle Supreme Horse and the Supreme Products Supreme Pony finals. There’s also the Osborne Refrigerators Double Harness Scurry, the Total Waste Management Mini Challenge and the ever-popular Ashby Underwriting Eventers’ Challenge, which takes place on the Thursday of the show. Three former winners are among those lining up for this eventing showcase, so keep reading for our preview.

We’ve got a special treat for our subscribers in this week’s prize draw, which includes a trip to the Dublin Horse Show in August, courtesy of our friends at the Irish Horse Board.

The past few years have seen amazing results for British riders at Hickstead, with riders from the home nation winning both the Agria Nations Cup and the final day Grand Prix, the King George V Gold Cup. Two members of last year’s winning Nations Cup team have been selected for Hickstead once again, namely Olympic gold medallist Ben Maher and Enjeu De Grisien, and Robert Whitaker and Vermento. They are joined by Adrian Whiteway with Chacco Volo, who is on the Hickstead squad for the first time; Georgia Tame and BE Golden Lynx, who helped the Brits finish third in the Aachen Nations Cup last month, and Jessica Mendoza (Summerhouse), who is currently competing as an individual at the European Championships. Agria Nations Cup day is always so exciting, with flags handed out to the crowds so everyone can get behind the home nation! Tickets are on sale now.
