French hat-trick at the Nations Cup in Gorla Minore

The third day of the youth CSIO in Gorla Minore saw France claim a hat-trick in the Nations Cupa s they won three of the four competitions on the agenda: the Pony category (where Italy took second), in the Children category and the Young Riders category.The Blues, led by two time Olympic silver medalist Thierry Pomel, finished with 13 penalties, narrowly beating out category European Champion Bryan Balsiger’s Swtizerland. France was in great form yesterday, but Switzerland had every chance of victory, with the decisive moment being the final round where Balsinger ended up with 12 penalties, bringing his team’s total to 20 and handing victory to the French. The Italian team finished third on this occasion, just one point behind Switzerland, with Guido Franchi the stand out performer as he was the only rider to manage a clear round.
