There were great celebrations in Paris yesterday after the victory of the home favourite in the Global Champions Tour (GCT) which was held at the Champ de Mars at the foot of the Eiffel Tower.
Kevin Staut on his trusted KWPN grey mare Silvana HDC was clearly inspired by the support of the home crowd and the French rider was the author of a great victory which also saw him earn a cool 105,600.00 euro in prize money.
His winning run in the final round saw him beat off competition from 9 other pairs with only 4 completing the course with a clean run of which one was Georgina Bloomberg who surprised everyone on her 13 year-old grey mare Juvina (Cassini) to take fourth place.
Marcus Ehning also recorded a clean run to finish third with the extraordinary Cornado NRW with a time of 43.04. He was preceded by a pair that are continuing to attract all the plaudits in the form of Pius Schwizer and his 9 year-old performer Toulago (Toulon). The two are continuing to grow together obtaining increasingly impressive results and are in great form.
The rest of the top-ten was made up as follows:
5th Scott Brash GBR Hello Annie (4 penalties at the jump-off)
6th Maikel van der Vleuten NED VDL Groep Verdi (4 penalties at the jump-off)
7th Denis Lynch IRL All Star 5 (4 penalties at the jump-off)
