Giacomo Casadei: from the GCL in Madrid to the CSIO Rome

At the Longines Global Champions Tour in Madrid, horseshowjumping.tv caught up with rising Italian rider Giacomo Casadei, who’s been steadily climbing the international ranks.
After riding with the Mexico Amigos last season, Casadei returned to the circuit this year with the Doha Falcons, showcasing his progress on one of the toughest tours in the world.
“For me, both last year and this season have been my real debut on the Global circuit,” he said. “It’s such an incredible opportunity, not just for me but for my horses too. We’re jumping in amazing places, competing against the very best—it truly is a dream come true.”

Madrid was his first time competing in the Spanish capital, and while he enjoyed the experience, his mind was already on his next big goal: Piazza di Siena, the CSIO of Rome and one of the most iconic venues for any Italian rider.
“Riding for Italy at home is always emotional,” he said with a smile. “Piazza di Siena is a historic and beautiful show—it’s the one we all dream about. After last year, I’m proud to be going back, and I hope to do even better this time.”

In Madrid, Giacomo chose to bring some of his younger horses, keeping his top mare fresh for the Nations Cup in Rome.
“Here I brought my second string because my best horse will jump in Rome. I want her to be in peak form for the Nations Cup.”
Still, his weekend in Madrid ended on a high note, with a win in the final class aboard his new chestnut horse, a sign of the strength and depth of his string going into the summer season.

Then came Rome, and all the anticipation turned into action. Casadei rode for Team Italy in the Nations Cup, delivering two consistent rounds with just 4 faults each, helping secure a third-place finish for the Azzurri in one of the most prestigious team competitions of the year.
It was a powerful performance in a pressure-filled setting, and Casadei rose to the occasion:
“There’s nothing like riding in front of your home crowd, with the Italian flag on your jacket. You feel the support, the adrenaline—it gives you that extra boost from the very first stride.”

Now, with Piazza di Siena behind him and another Nations Cup podium under his belt, Giacomo Casadei is proving that he’s not just one to watch, but one who’s already delivering, with passion, precision, and pride in the blue jacket of Italy.
