Global Champions League introducing play offs in 2018

With Netherlands’ Harrie Smolders winning the 2017 Longines Global Champions Tour ahead of Doha final, the Jan Tops circuit is ready to introduce a significant innovation.
 Global Champions League announced the introduction of spectacular new team play offs in 2018 with an unprecedented €10 million in prize money.
 
The new play offs will be staged in the magical Czech capital Prague, one of the world’s most beautiful cities, which will be added to the other top locations already included into the Tour, among which Rome, Cannes, London and Paris.
 
The premiere of this thrilling new format for team show jumping will take place from Thursday 13th to Sunday 16th December 2018 at the dynamic O2 arena, which hosts major concerts and sports events. The introduction of the play offs in 2018 will see a roller-coaster of eliminations, as teams battle through to the final stages, with the winning team alone taking home €3 million.
 
The pre-Christmas play offs will dramatically raise the stakes at every stage of the regular GCL team championship with even more tension building at the season final at prestigious AL SHAQAB in Doha in November. Only the 16 best teams from the 2018 season will qualify for a place at the play offs. The top four teams will automatically be fast tracked directly to the play off semi finals.
 
The mission of Jan Tops goes on: from the beginning, the Co-Founder of Global Champions League and President of Longines Global Champions Tour aimed at making sure the sport kept moving ahead in the interests of riders, fans, owners, sponsors and media.
 
Prague, known as ‘the City of a hundred spires’, is UNESCO World Heritage site. The visitors can enjoy the contrast of its historic Gothic architecture and the cool modern neighbourhoods with art and design zones.
