H.H. The Amir’s Sword brings world-class show jumping back to Al Shaqab: Doha becomes the global capital with a €1.5-million CSI5*
From 11 to 14 February 2026, the Longines Arena at Al Shaqab will host H.H. The Amir’s Sword, one of the flagship events on Qatar’s equestrian calendar and the highlight of the Doha Equestrian Tour. Four days of elite sport, refined atmosphere and tradition, with a total prize fund for show jumping exceeding €2 million, crowned by the CSI5* Grand Prix worth €1.5 million—one of the richest in the world.
The event will bring together 283 riders and 599 horses, further cementing Doha’s status as one of the most dynamic international hubs for show jumping. Beyond the competition itself, H.H. The Amir’s Sword also forms part of the Qatari capital’s winter social calendar, thanks to a format that blends top-level sport, premium hospitality and strong ties to local tradition.
A long-term commitment to sporting excellence
During the presentation press conference, Bader Al Darwish, President of the Qatar Equestrian Federation and board member of the Doha Equestrian Tour, underlined how the event confirms Qatar’s long-term strategy to promote world-class sport and to consolidate Doha’s position on the international equestrian circuit.
Tour Sporting Director Salmeen Al-Suwadi highlighted the presence of more than 13 riders ranked among the FEI Top 50 worldwide, a figure that attests to the exceptional technical standard of the 2026 edition.
The stars on the start list
Among the most anticipated names is Scott Brash, current world number one and leader of the Doha Equestrian Tour’s CSI4*/5* series. He will be joined by some of the sport’s leading figures, including Max Kühner, Harry Charles, Pieter Devos, Niels Bruynseels and Edwina Tops-Alexander, alongside a strong contingent of both emerging and established riders.
The sporting programme features CSICh-B, CDI1*, CSI1*, CSI3*-W and CSI5* classes, as well as World Cup qualifying competitions and an FEI Group VII qualifier—an important springboard for combinations from the region.
