Harrie Smolders out to emulate Scott Brash

unnamed 2 12 1

Harrie Smolders has been in frightening form during the current Longines Global Champions Tour season.
The Dutchman’s performance in the last leg in Rome means he has been crowned champion even before the final in Qatar.
Smolders has led the way more or less from the start with Christian Ahlmann and Italy’s Lorenzo De Luca doing their best to try and rein in Smolders in the standings.
But that duo were unable to stop Smolders powering his way to glory.
More than the wins, it has been the consistent finishes from Smolders that have propelled him to first place in the standings and handed him the crown.
Away from the Longines Global Champions Tour he has also been on song with a great finish in the European Championships in Gothenburg where he came second.
What’s more, he will now be looking to follow in the footsteps of Scott Brash who was the first person to win both the Longines Global Champions Tour regular season and final in 2013.
