HH Azur named US Horse of the Year 2017
The US Equestrian announced on Friday that HH Azur, ridden by McLain Ward, has been named the 2017 International Horse of the Year.
The 12-year-old Belgian Warmblood mare, owned by Double H Farm and François Mathy, won top Grand Prix at the Winter Equestrian Festival in Palm Beach and at Spruce Meadows in Canada, as well as the World Cup Final in Omaha.
McLain and Azur, a long-time business pair, anchored the US team to a silver-medal tie in the Nations Cup at Aachen, Germany in July and took silver in the Nations Cup Jumping Final in September.
McLain was also voted US Rider of the Year in 2017 thanks to HH Azur amazing performances.
