Inigo Lopez de la Osa Franco Ready to Represent Monaco at the Global Champions Tour

The 21-year-old emphasizes the lessons learned from Simon Delestre: “Total focus on the horse”
“This is my first time competing in a 5-star event here in Monaco, and doing so as part of the Global Tour makes it even more special”. With these words, 21-year-old Inigo Lopez de la Osa Franco shares his excitement for the upcoming stage of the circuit, taking place from July 4 to 6, where he will ride as the home representative. “I’m really happy and proud. Competing at such a high-level event, at home, and representing the Principality is a great honor for me”.
Inigo’s passion for horses and show jumping runs in the family, passed down from his paternal lineage—from his great-grandfather, who was a cavalry general in Spain, to his father. This season, he is competing in the Global Champions League under the call of Jan Tops, becoming the first and only rider to represent Monaco in the history of the GCL.
Since September 2024, Inigo has been based in France, training at the stables of Simon Delestre, Olympic team bronze medalist at Paris 2024. That move marked a turning point in his development as a rider. Versatile and focused, Inigo has shown the ability to adapt to the unique temperament of each of his horses. He finds satisfaction in improving his performance, regardless of the final standings.
“Without a doubt,” says the rider, “one of the most important lessons I’ve learned from Simon Delestre is the absolute attention he gives to the horse. He focuses on every detail with incredible precision and always puts the animal’s well-being first. He has the knowledge and experience to understand what’s best at any given moment—for both himself and the horse—and he works every day to move in that direction, always listening to and respecting the horse. This approach has taught me a lot, both technically and personally”.
