Isabell Werth and Kim Emmen shine at the CHI Basel
Basel, January 10, 2026 – The second day of the LONGINES CHI Classics Basel concluded yesterday in front of a packed crowd at the St. Jakobshalle, once again confirming the event as one of the most prestigious indoor fixtures on the international equestrian calendar across multiple disciplines.
The FEI Dressage World Cup goes to Isabell Werth
The day opened under the banner of elegance with the Dressage Grand Prix valid for the FEI Dressage World Cup™, won by German champion Isabell Werth riding Wendy de Fontaine. A great result for Switzerland came courtesy of young rider Charlotta Rogerson, who claimed an excellent second place with Bonheur de la Vie, delivering a test marked by remarkable technical maturity and precision, warmly applauded by the home crowd.
The podium was completed by Germany’s Raphael Netz aboard DSP Dieudonne, while just outside the top three were Svenja Kämper-Meyer with Amanyara M FRH and Austria’s Bettina Kendlbacher riding Broadmoars Don Alfredo AWO.
Show Jumping: Kim Emmen Claims the Longines Grand Prix
In the LONGINES Grand Prix of show jumping, victory went to Dutch rider Kim Emmen, flawless with Imagine N.O.P. and the only combination to complete a double clear round, stopping the clock at 33.39 seconds.
Behind her was France’s Julien Epaillard riding Donatello d’Auge, who incurred a fault in the jump-off despite posting the fastest time. Third place went to Belgium’s Pieter Devos with Casual DV Z, followed by Portugal’s Rodrigo Giesteira Almeida on Karonia L. Rounding out the top five was fellow Dutch rider Hessel Hoekstra with Comthago VDL.
Anticipation Builds for the Kür and the City Championship
Today’s schedule promises more excitement: at 1:45 p.m., all eyes will be on the Dressage Grand Prix Kür, the sixth leg of the Western European League World Cup season. In the evening, the spotlight will shift to the Championat of the City of Basel, a spectacular class boasting over €100,000 in prize money and awarding the iconic Goldene Trommel von Basel.
The LONGINES CHI Classics Basel continues to establish itself as a stage of excellence, where sport, tradition, and spectacle come together to showcase the very best combinations on the world equestrian scene.
