After Boyd Exell’s counter performance and the misadventures of his father, Ijsbrand Chardon yesterday (an incident with the harness), the son, Bram Chardon easily took the win of the FEI Driving World Cup final after a splendid demonstration today: he takes home his first world title with almost 20 seconds ahead (time and faults on both days included) on his countryman, Koos de Ronde.
The 25 years old driver did not commit any fault over the four courses of this final: “It was two great days, the carriage was fine, horses were amazing. It’s really important, especially on the final, because any small faults can cost a lot. It’s another game, the competition is very high.” A level that the Dutch driver, with his calm, the subtlety of his hand, his horses’ quality… and the experience inherited from his father, will certainly dominate for many years to come. The name Chardon is not ready to disappear in people’s mind. On their side, Koos de Ronde and Belgium’s Glenn Geerts, already on the podium of a final in Bordeaux, have to settle respectively for second and third place!
