Katharina Offel opens MET III with a victory

The Mediterranean Equestrian Tour 2018 was back after some week off. The third round saw the success of Katharina Offel in the CSI2* Grand Prix at Oliva Nova last weekend. Riding the 9-year-old mare Elien (Carambole x Mermus R), the German rider took the top honours in this world ranking Grand Prix worth 30,000 Euro.
Coming straight from the Rolex Grand Slam of Show Jumping in s-Hertongebosch, the world-class course designer Louis Konickx built a thirteen-fence track in the beautiful grass ring in Oliva Nova – challenging the 61 horse-and-rider combinations in the competition with many technical questions.
Fourteen riders managed to clear the track to move on to the jump-off. However, no one could catch up with Offel who went all in with his quick Elien to seal the success.
Closest came Netherlands’ Micky Morssinkhof on Happy Girl 42 (Nonstop x Landetto), who took the runner-up position. Belgium’s Annelies Vorsselmans on Wilandro 3 (Unistar x Ramazotti) was third to complete what was a ladies’ podium in Oliva.
