The 2017/2018 season of the Rolex Grand Slam has started under the sign of Kent Farrington, who claimed his first major title with Rolex Grand Prix victory at Geneva, Switzerland.
The 36-year-old American, who is world’s number one, jumped to success aboard his 11-year-old Belgian Warmblood-mare Gazelle (by Kashmir van Schuttershof) at the sold-out Palexpo on Sunday.
Just few months ago, the pair had stood out for triumphing in the $380k Rolex Grand Prix at Tryon, which was just an anticipation of the success in Geneve which now puts them top of the list of the potential winners.
Farrington will actually bid to win three majors in succession to complete the Rolex Grand Slam and go down in the sport’s history as a Grand Slam Champion, securing also the bonus of one million euros. The next leg will come in March at the Dutch Masters in the Netherlands and victory in ‘s-Hertogenbosch could leave him chasing the sport’s ultimate accolade at the CHIO Aachen in Germany in July 2018.
