LONGINES CHI CLASSICS BASEL: Richard Vogel, the standout rider of the first day
The LONGINES CHI CLASSICS BASEL were officially opened yesterday, Thursday, immediately delivering top-level sport and excitement to the Basel audience. The first four show jumping competitions crowned the event’s first winners.
European Champion Richard Vogel was the standout rider of the day, claiming an impressive double victory. The German rider won the Preis des Grand Hotel Les Trois Rois aboard Phenyo van het Keysersbos and also took top honours in the opening class with Diamant de Casall. The crowd celebrated a Swiss double in the Preis von Land Rover, thanks to Romain Duguet and Martin Fuchs.
In his opening speech, Organising Committee President Thomas Straumann paid tribute to the victims of the tragic fire in Crans-Montana, before illusionist Peter Marvey captivated the audience with his show.
Today, Friday, dressage riders also enter the arena. The FEI Dressage World Cup™ Grand Prix starts at 10.00 a.m., while the evening will feature one of the most anticipated highlights of the event: the LONGINES Grand Prix of Basel.
