McLain Ward claims stunning victory in Longines Masters New York

The Longines Masters of New York was a real show-off event for the US riders and horses, as they grabbed the spotlight in the individual challenges, after being just edged out in the final match of the Riders Masters Cup.
Following to the women’s exploit in the  Longines Speed Challenge, the home crew triumphed also in Sunday’s  $382,800 Longines Grand Prix thanks to McLain Ward’s flawless success.
Born in New York, the three-time U.S. Olympic medalist and 2017 Longines FEI World Cup champion led a victory gallop that represented the world’s greatest show jumping talent. 
Ward and his 11-year-old Oldenburg mare Clinta (Clinton x Lord Pezi) were the pair to beat in a star-studded jump-off over courses conceived by Dutch course designer Louis Konickx. And they stopped the clock in a blistering 34.92 second to thrill a hometown crowd.
Canada’s Erynn Ballard was once again on the podium in the CSI5*, after her success in the Longines Speed Challenge. She finished in third position riding her 13-year-old Belgian Warmblood gelding Fantast.
Second was reigning European Champion Peder Fredricson, who stopped the clock at 35.43 seconds with the 10-year-old Swedish Warmblood gelding Hansson WL.
The only Italian rider featuring was Emanuele Gaudiano who finish seventh atop of 9-year-old Chalou (Chacco Blue).
