Mending horse’s tendons, and man’s?

Horse therapy to mend the Achilles tendon but not only of horses but perhaps also those of men and women. In Great Britain a technique using stem cell research is about to be tested by a biotech company ready to get the tests on human beings underway in under 12 months. Patients will receive injections containing millions of stem cells with the aim of regenerating torn tissue. More than 1500 horses have been healed using the same procedure and the results are promising, indicating a 50% reduction of breakdown over a three year period compared to conventional treatment.
Stem cell therapy has become the most selected way to heal torn tendons of racing horses, which can be worth millions of dollars. The technique was pioneered by surgeons at London’s Royal Veterinary College.
