Milanese Hunting Club – Cascina della Rovere Carpignano Sesia (NO)

A classic meet of the Milanese Hunting Club saw 35 hardy souls face the driving rain to gallop along the banks of the Sesia river, through the grain fields and poplar copses, to tuck into a plate of paniscia, a local dish of rice and green beans. Under the orders of MFH G.B. Litta Modignani, wipper Ludovico Cicogna Mozzoni and field master Carlo Severgnini, the field was slowed by the muddy underfoot and any fall was cushioned by the mud, then left on the horse’s mane and rider’s gaiters. At the fourth check the riders’ enthusiasm had reached the fever pitch of the kill and had extinguished any dark mood that the adverse weather conditions may have provoked.
