Rabat, September 26, 2025 – The Morocco Royal Tour heated up in Rabat with a spectacular 1.50m class, the Prix Wilaya Région Rabat-Salé-Kénitra, a qualifier for tomorrow’s Grand Prix HRH Princess Lalla Amina.
Spain’s Armando Trapote claimed an authoritative victory aboard his trusted Karl P, finishing nearly a full second ahead of his closest rival.

On a highly technical course designed by Italian course builder Uliano Vezzani, consisting of twelve fences and fourteen efforts, Trapote showcased both his talent and the exceptional quality of his horse:

“I’m really happy with this round and especially with Karl P. He jumped incredibly today. The track was challenging, but he made everything feel easy. He’s a powerful, high-quality horse, and today he proved he’s ready for this level,” said the Spanish rider.

It’s no surprise to see Trapote at the top of the international circuit. Alongside his wife, Teresa Blázquez-Abascal, he also organizes the renowned Sunshine Tour in Andalusia. Blázquez is competing in Rabat as well and today finished with four faults riding Nasa de Toxandria.

Looking ahead, Trapote remains cautious but ambitious:

“Winning today is a great start, but the most important thing is to keep the horses in this positive rhythm. We’ll see what happens tomorrow in the Grand Prix and, of course, in the Nations Cup, which is always a major goal for a team like ours.”

The final standings of the Prix Wilaya Région Rabat-Salé-Kénitra saw Trapote ahead of Leon Thijssen (NED) with Lambiek and Roberto Turchetto (ITA) with Don Blue.

The best Moroccan rider was El Ghali Boukaa, who finished fourth with Chester N, while another Italian, Filippo Bassan, completed the top five aboard Cerruti de Kreisker.

France and Morocco Shine in Other Classes

The day began with French dominance in the Prix ANCFCC (1.35m), where Nathalie Mack took victory with Baccara de l’Aubépine, followed by Florent Jeannin.

Shortly after, Morocco struck back with a significant win: Majid Djaidi, riding Amidam Tivoli Z, claimed the Prix ONMT (1.40m) ahead of young Dutch rider Sanne Thijssen and Italy’s Roberto Turchetto. It was a tightly contested class: the top five combinations were separated by just six-tenths of a second, with Trapote finishing fourth on Gin Tonic van het Gerendal Z.

All Eyes on the Nations Cup

While tomorrow’s Grand Prix is expected to thrill the crowd, attention is already turning to Sunday, when the Nations Cup will take place. For Morocco, the dream is clear: to see its riders lift the trophy on home soil.

In the meantime, Rabat echoes with a resounding Spanish cheer: Armando Trapote and Karl P have written the first winning chapter of this year’s Morocco Royal Tour.
