Rabat, September 12, 2025 – The countdown is over: on September 18 the curtain will rise in Tétouan on the Morocco Royal Tour 2025, a circuit that for fourteen editions has stood as one of the most prestigious moments in the international equestrian calendar. Riders and horses will travel across Morocco, from north to south, all the way to El Jadida, for three weeks of top-level competition.

The 2025 program is particularly rich: 27 classes, 13 of which count for the Longines FEI World Ranking, three CSI4*-W Grand Prix World Cup qualifiers, and 18 CSI1* classes dedicated to young horses and emerging talents. The highlight will be the CSIO4*-W Nations Cup in Rabat, set to take place on a fully renovated arena. The tour will conclude with the Grand Prix of His Majesty King Mohammed VI in El Jadida, boasting a prize fund of €164,000, placing it on par with CSI5* events.

Morocco Royal Tour 2025: a global stage

Seventeen nations will compete this year, with some notable debuts. Poland will take part for the first time in the Rabat Nations Cup, while Argentina and Bahrain will debut with individual riders.

In recent years, Morocco has risen to prominence thanks to riders such as Abdelkebir Ouaddar, a CSI5* Grand Prix winner, and El Ghali Boukaa. Now the home team will aim to capture the Nations Cup in front of its local crowd. The line-up will also feature Olympian Ali Al Ahrach, a leading figure in Moroccan equestrian sport.

Champions and the next generation

The Morocco Royal Tour is renowned for the diversity of its stars. At just 20 years old, Brazil’s Luiz Felipe Neto de Azevedo has already collected more than 50 international wins and a team gold medal at the Continental Youth Championships. After placing in El Jadida last year, he returns to Morocco with even higher ambitions.

From the UK comes Joe Whitaker, heir to Britain’s most famous equestrian dynasty, who first started as a jockey before turning to show jumping. Representing Italy will be Emanuele Gaudiano, a multiple winner in Tétouan and El Jadida, and now a fixture of the circuit.

The Netherlands will be represented by the Thijssen family – father Léon and children Sanne, Mel, and Mans – all of whom have worn the iconic orange jacket at major championships. Switzerland brings Edouard Schmitz (born 1999), already a Nations Cup winner in St. Gallen and Dublin.

Three cities, three identities

One of the strengths of the Morocco Royal Tour is its ability to combine sport and territory, with three legs that reflect the spirit of the country:

  • Tétouan (September 18–21): a solemn setting inside the Royal Guard grounds, with monumental stands and traditional-style stables.
  • Rabat (September 24–28): the technical hub of the Royal Moroccan Federation, hosting the Nations Cup on a completely renewed surface.
  • El Jadida (October 2–5): the grand finale at the Salon du Cheval, Africa’s most important equestrian fair, featuring the Grand Prix of His Majesty King Mohammed VI.

A world-class benchmark

Launched in 2010 under the High Patronage of His Majesty King Mohammed VI and presided over by Prince Moulay Abdallah Alaoui, the Morocco Royal Tour has established itself as a reference point in the FEI calendar. Over the years it has welcomed many of the sport’s greats, including Philippe Rozier, Simon Delestre, Jérôme Guery, Pius Schwizer, and many more.

The event is appreciated not only for its technical level, but also for the quality of its facilities and its unique ability to merge equestrian sport with Morocco’s cultural identity.

A September to remember

From the opening in Tétouan to the grand finale in El Jadida, the Morocco Royal Tour 2025 once again places Morocco at the center of the international show jumping scene. For riders, horses, and fans, it is an unmissable fixture: three weeks blending tradition, competition, and a global vision.

The official kick-off is set for Thursday, September 18 in Tétouan, when Morocco will once again welcome the elite of world show jumping.
