Ahead of the Longines Masters New York 2018, the horses have left Europe and are on their way to the big apple. An 8-and-a-half hour flight, accompanied by grooms, flights attendants and the vets which following them closely every minute of the trip aboard a Boeing 747-400 Cargo set-up specifically for the transport of sports horses.
The plane is heading to New York’s JFK airport where the horses will be kept in quarantine for 48 hours before being transferred to the stables at NYCB LIVE, Home of Nassau Veterans Memorial Coliseum, the venue for the New York Masters.
More than 200 horses will be taking part in the 5-star Longines Masters event, with a score of the horses coming from Europe’s top stables having already reached the venue, while the rest are expected to arrive within the next few hours as they prepare to take part in one of the most prestigious and exclusive international jumping events.
The New York stage will also be the venue for the final showdown between Philippe Guerdat’s European team and Robert Ridland’s Team USA on April 28.
