Paolo Adorno triumphed in the second and final event of the international circuit hosted at Le Siepi equestrian centre in Cervia. Two weeks of competitive sport came to close, in which top names of the equestrian world had gathered in Emilia Romagna from 14 different countries of the world.
As in the first week of the Adriatic Tour, the highlight of the final act was again the CSI2* Grand Prix, valid as Longines FEI Ranking class.
Switzerland’s Werner Muff took the top honours last week, gaining important points for the Ranking List, while Italy’s Paolo Adorno claimed the win on Sunday and received the award from Cervia’s Councilor for Sports Gianni Grandu.
Adorno with Fer Z.G. defeated the competition of Czech Republic’s Ales Opatrny, runner-up with Vdl Fakir, and of Germany’s Lesley Wulff, third-placed atop of Luigi.
The 145 class of the CSI2*, which was also valid for the Ranking List, took place on Friday and was won by Switzerland’s Niklaus Rutschi atop of Clearwater. Behind him was Germany’s Jorne Sprehe on Solero and his fellow countryman Fabio Crotta, third on Cassandra Baia.
As for the 140, it was Luigi del Prete to stand out in the time trial on Thursday, ahead of Giuseppe Della Chiesa and Germany’s Jorne Sprehe, respectively second and third placed.
On Friday the 140 class with consecutive phases saw the best three riders fighting hard to clinch the victory and it was a matter of hundredths of a second. At the end it was Netherlands’ Ruben Romp who came off best, leaving behind Switzerland’s Fabio Crotta for only 00.10 seconds. Third was Italy’s Laura Lorenzetti, 00.04 slower than Crotta.
Last but not least, Saturday’s 140 saw the triumph of Austria’s Dominik Juffinger, with Italy’s Filippo Lupis behind him on second.
The competitive season at Le Siepi riding centre continues next month with the Easter national show taking place from March 30th to April 1st and the five-star Grand Prix from 20th to 22nd April. The Test Event will follow in May from 11th to 13th, while from 18th to 20th another five-star Grand Prix takes place.
Moreover, the Italian Amateur Championships and the second leg of the Italian Cup of Dressage (22nd-24th June) are among the events to be marked on the calendar.
