Many equestrian centres are in danger of closing down, but the one that is drawing all the attention in Italy is the Pratoni Equestrian Federal Centre, which is currently closed. What is more, the structure is often subject to vandalism.
In an attempt to avoid the complete destruction of one of the most important and known international equestrian centres, a group has formed via the internet intent on saving the centre.
Riders and in particular followers of the sport agreed that it was a structure far too important to abandon and see go to waste. This is also because the Pratoni Equestrian Federal Centre is the most complete centre for the Eventing discipline and the Italian riders will suffer without an adequate training facility.
The Pratoni Federal Equestrian Centre is currently managed by the Italian Olympic Association (CONI). However, in a letter sent to the President Giovanni Malagò on behalf of the group to save the centre, they have pleaded with CONI not to abandon the centre and to make the necessary repairs to restore it to its former glory.
In order to fund the changes, a series of proposals have been made such as training courses, competitions, open days and all financed in partnership with private capital and individuals interested in running the structure. The group are also organising a petition and looking to collect as many names as possible to save the centre.
The international Eventing season is on the way and it’s feared that the Italian riders will suffer because they don’t have the necessary training facilities. For those interested in lending their support or for any further information, please contact the following email: cef.comitato@gmail.com
