
Philipp Weishaupt Triumphs at Casas Novas: A Stellar Victory in the Longines World Cup

The weekend in A Coruña culminated with the much-anticipated Longines World Cup Grand Prix at the CSI 5*W Casas Novas, delivering an unforgettable equestrian spectacle. Among 40 elite riders, Philipp Weishaupt stood out, clinching first place with a flawless performance and leaving the packed indoor arena in awe.
The Casas Novas indoor arena, renowned as one of the best in the circuit, provided the perfect setting for an intense competition. With jumps set at 1.60 meters and a timed jump-off determining the winner, the event was brimming with excitement. The preliminary rounds saw 15 riders qualify for the final jump-off, setting the stage for a thrilling conclusion.
Philipp Weishaupt, representing Germany, showcased his mastery aboard Coby 8, completing the jump-off in an unbeatable 36.11 seconds. His impeccable and lightning-fast round earned him the championship title, presented by Casas Novas representative Flora Pére
“Coby 8 is incredible indoors and always performs well here in A Coruña. I’m very happy with this win,” Weishaupt shared after his victory.
Robert Whitaker of Great Britain claimed second place with Vermento, finishing the jump-off in an impressive 36.56 seconds. Despite his quick pace, he fell just short of surpassing Weishaupt.
The third spot went to Spain’s own Jesús Garmendia Echevarría, who delighted the home crowd with a stellar performance on Callias. Completing the jump-off in 37.19 seconds, Garmendia kept hopes of a Spanish victory alive until the very end.
The competition showcased exceptional talent beyond the podium. Hans-Dieter Dreher of Germany secured fourth place with Elysium, while Spain’s Iván Serrano Sáez and Rain Man rounded out the top five. The complete results reflect the high caliber of this prestigious event:
