Polo, VIP’s and glamour at the first Versilia tournament

The final touches are being made to the ‘Principe di Piemonte’ beach at Viareggio for the first Polo Beach Cup on October 9th. The event will last for three days, until Sunday October 11th, when the capital of the Carnevale will become the international capital of Polo.Four teams will participate (Polo Club Firenze, Principe di Piemonte, Moonlocker and Hotel Esplanade) as well as dressage exhibitions, doma vaquero and alta scuola, not forgetting players such as entrepreneur Salvatore Ferragamo, actor Roberto Ciufoli and other stars.     Organised by “Viareggio Versilia Congressi” (www.viareggiocongress.eu) and Viareggio local council, in collaboration with Polo Club Firenze, technical sponsor and important partner of the sector, for the first time non-professionals will compete on sand, all of which will be shown on Italian national television courtesy of Rai show ‘Uno Mattina’ on Sunday.After an entertaining build-up the first match will be played at 3 p.m. and the day will be brought to a close with a Grand Gala at the Grand Hotel Principe di Piemonte, where 190 hand-picked VIP’s will enjoy a masked ball. On the prestigious guest list are Heir to Montenegro, Stephan de Cernetic; the consuls of Denmark, Ukraine, Seychelles and San Marino; the mayor of Livorno, Narciso Zini (who’ll be the official master of ceremony for the entire three days); the local authorities and representatives of the law enforcing agencies as well as important Italian entrepreneurs passionate about the Sport of Kings.Entrance to see the matches is free, however, the players area will be off-limits.
