Remembering a champion

Porta Sant’Andrea: Galileo has died. The horse, winner of 5 ‘Lance D’oro’, died this morning. The anglo/arab/Sardinian horse was 22 years old and belonged to Stefano Cherici from 1998.Galileo had an enviable CV and was a winner of many events. His name will go down in history alongside Maurizio Sepiacci, with whom he made his debut on 25th August 1991, the same year that Maurizio had bought him in his native Sardinia aged just four. With Sapiacci, Galileo competed until 1996, winning trophies in 1991, 1992, 1993 and 1994.Cherici bought him in 1998 and tried him out for the first time in 1999.
