Results from European Youth Championships: Lorenzo Sciacca wins silver in the children category!

Please see below for an update from the European Youth Championships taking place in Arezzo, Italy.
Great Britain won the team discipline in the Juniors category after collecting a total of just 4 penalties. The British team scored two double clean runs thanks to Jake Saywell on Grand cru van Paemel and Jessica Mendoza with Spirit T. Millie Allen on Cantino amassed 4 penalties while both the results of Christie Pritchard on Waldemar were discarded by the coach (16 and 8). The British team finished with the same amount of points as the Dutch team, although the latter retired in the final jump-off phase handing the title to Great Britain.
Second place as mentioned above went to Holland who collected 4 penalties. The team that picked up the silver medal was made up as follows: Kim Hoogenrat with Wishkarla, Kim Bril with Mallorca, Demi van Grunsven with San Serai 3 and Jens van Grunsven with Whisper.
The final podium slot went to Germany after they collected twice as many penalties as the British and the Dutch with 8. Their team was made up as follows: Theresa Ripkke & Calmado 53, Laura Strehmel & DSP Lucie, Leonie Krieg & Champerlo, Teike Carstensen & Cara Mia 85.
Italy finished in joint 4th place with Norway. Both nations ended up with 12 penalties. The Azzurri riders that took to the field were the following: Matias Alvaro & Mirage de Levaux, Marcello Manganotti & Leap de Riverland, Elena Codecasa & Tayson, Ernesto Vacirca & Zeta di Sabuci.

In the children category meanwhile, the gold medal went to Austria (Jessica Vonach & Withny, Stella Egger & Candyman 114, Sebastian Gorton Hulgerth & Estoril, Dominik Juffinger & Copido 2) after a faultless run.
Belgium came in second with the following team: Alexander Houser & Flicka, Thibault Philippaerts & Lajolie 3, Maartje Verbeckmoes & Cous Cous, Emilie Conter & Fragile van T Paradijs.
Like in the Junior category, Germany had to settle for the bronze after collecting 4 penalties. The German side was made up as follows: Max Haunhorst & Florida Lady Ixes 77, Beeke Carstensen & Venetzia, Laura Hetzel & Quanita, Marec Danekas & City 10.
Italy on the other hand finished in 8th with Francesco Correddu & Necofix, Federico Ragazzetti & Pitagoras, Melissa Ambrosetti & Donathilia, Lorenzo Sciacca & Webster. The Azzurri amassed a total of 16 penalties.

Finally, there was better Equestrian World for Italy in the individual children category as Lorenzo Sciacca managed to get on the podium and win a silver medal for his country. Britain’s Robert Murphy won gold while France’s Elisa Mellec took bronze.

As for the Juniors category, first place went to Norwegian rider Amalie Hegre, second place to Belgian rider Gilles Thomas and bronze to Britain’s Jessica Mendoza.
