
Road to Paris 2018 World Cup Finals

Created in 1978, the FEI World CupT represents one of the most prestigious individual show jumping circuits and the most highly coveted by the discipline’s riders. The world title is awarded at the Final after 10 months of qualifiers in 16 leagues throughout the world. The Western European League plays host to 13 legs across Europe. At the end of this qualifying circuit, the 40 best riders in the world are invited to this final.
The 2018 Finals kick off on Wednesday April 11th at the AccorHotel Arena in Paris. During these five days of competition, the Jumping and Dressage FEI World Cup Finals take place as well as a CSI specifically for the FEI World Cup finalists second horses and a CSI 2*.
On Thursday April 12th, the FEI World Cup Jumping Final I breaks the deadlock with a time trial including obstacles up to 1.60m in height. The Final II follows on Friday from 8.30am.
Saturday is a day off for all pairs involved in the FEI World Cup final ahead of the most challenging class on Sunday. This includes two rounds: the 30 best riders from the First and Second Final Competitions will take go through to the 1st round, while the 20 best riders will go through to the 2nd round. The starting order will be the reverse order of the provisional standings of the 1st round.
Defending champion is American rider McLain Ward, who won last season with HH Azur in Omaha. The US competition has been very high in the last few years and the European jumpers will have to struggle to secure the top places in the final standings.
