Saddle theft provokes accident

Yesterday at Reggio Emilia five horse saddles were stolen and while the thieves attempted to escape by car they caused an accident. After watching CCTV footage of the theft the carabinieri caught those responsible after identifying the getaway vehicle.  A 30-year-old and a 20-year-old were tracked down in the Fiera area of the city where an American Horse Show was being held. The thieves accelerated and the chase ended when the escaping car ran head on into another vehicle, without causing injury to those involved. The thieves continued their escape on foot but were swiftly caught and arrested. In a nearby abandoned house five saddles were discovered valued at between four and five thousand euro.
