Santiago Varela appointed as course designer for 2020 Olympic Games

The next Summer Olympic Games will be held in Tokyo from July 24th to August 9th 2020. The official mascot has already been unveiled and now the organising commettee has been working on the set-up of the installation which will host the show jumping competitions. 
The course designer selected for Tokyo is the Spanish Santiago Varela. The 45-year-old was introduced to horses at a very short age and in 1993 was appointed International Course designer.
About two decennia later, in 2013, he achieved the FEI Level 4 Course designer and was appointed for the first Furusiyya Nations Cup Final in Barcelona and the FEI European Championships for Young Riders, Juniors and Children in Vejer de la Frontera.
For Varela this will be the first Olympic Games exerience as a course designer.
