
Sardinia take gold and bronze at Italian Youth Championships

With all the best riders of the World competing at the Equestrian Games in Normandy there was a chance for the young showjumping riders to shine in the Italian Youth Championships at San Giovanni in Marignano at the Horses Riviera Resort equestrian center.
It was a great turnout with hundreds of youngsters arriving in Emilia Romagna from all over Italy, Sardinia included. The two most illustrious representatives from the island were present: Sardinia & Horses and Usignolo.
Sardinia & Horses dominated with a gold and bronze medals. Giovanni Carboni, with Sarino, took home the top prize in the Young Rider 1st and 2nd rank. The young rider was the only one to finish the three days of competition with just four penalties and Giovanni Carboni managed this feat thanks also to his fantastic understanding with Sarino, a 15 year old Dutch horse.
The bronze medal was won in the Juniors Criterium by Emanuele Lampis who took Qara Mai to third place proving that the Sardinian set-up, led by Gianleonardo Murruzzu, are one of the leaders in the youth sector.
Usignolo, guided by the instructor Roberto Pau, were also well represented with six competitors: Chiara Falchi with Phaedrus, Andrea Cinus with Lurianox, Giorgia Carzedda with Elisir Fatale, Valentina Scanu with Ciyara di Villa Francesca, Martina Falchi with Queen of Diamonds II and Daniele Scanu with Miele.
The best finish belonged to Martina Falchi in the B100 who completed three clean runs. Chiara Falchi also managed two runs without errors in the Junior Trophy 1st rank. Giorgia Carzedda did shine in the Children Trophy 1st rank with a good first run.
